Herb Henderson Obituary
Herb Henderson passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015 in the comfort of his home. We will gather for fellowship and remembrance from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 86 years on Friday, July 17, 2015, at 10 a.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel. Herbert Dee was born on Aug. 18, 1928 to Louis and Mae Crews Henderson in Lynn County. On Dec. 31, 1947, Herb married the love of his life, Nelda Franks at the First Baptist Church in Wolfforth, Texas. Herb graduated from Cooper High School and briefly attended Texas Tech University on a basketball scholarship. Prior to his career in the auction business, he farmed and managed Tatum Bros. Grain Elevator. He owned and operated Herb Henderson Auctioneer and Associates for 30+ years.
 He served in the Wolfforth community as mayor, and during this time, the first streets in Wolfforth were paved and curbed. He was a member of the Texas Auctioneer Association, Frenship School Board, Wolfforth Lions Club, and First Baptist Church.
Herb was an avid fisherman and holds the record at Allen Henry Lake for the largest blue catfish caught. He had a deep love for "dirt" and felt most comfortable outdoors farming, gardening, and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time in his shop wood-working.
Survivors include his wife, Nelda Henderson; their two daughters, Jaime Burns and Glenda Hutson and husband, Kevin; grandchildren, Ashley Evans and husband, Daron, Tausha Carlson and husband, Chris, Courtney Clegg and husband, Brent, Blake Burns and wife, Tiffany, Bradley Burns and wife, Brittany, Brittnee Dobbs and husband, Ricky; great-grandchildren, Cambree and Carsyn Clegg, Kennedy and Cade Carlson, Reagan, Broc, Beckum, and Hayden Burns.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bob Henderson, who passed away in 1988.
