James Prentice Porter Obituary
James Prentice Porter, age 57, was born on March 10, 1958 in Sweetwater, Texas and passed away on April 26, 2015 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Jim graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1976. He was an Assistant Fire Chief and Paramedic for the Sweetwater Fire Department and retired in 2012 after 35 years of service. He spent his free time spoiling his grandchildren, riding his Harley Davidson, traveling with both the Bluebonnet Miata Club and the Lonestar Miata Club, and supporting the Texas Wine Industry. He was recently employed at 96 West Winery in Wylie, Texas.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years Brenda Lee (Gressett) Porter; son, James Alan Porter and his wife Mitra Aazad; daughter, Bradi Porter McGregor and her husband Nick; sisters, Debra Shamblin-Eaton and Ruby Arnold; and two grandchildren, Audrey Lynn McGregor and Knox Logan McGregor.
Mr. Porter is preceded in death by his parents, James Ronald Porter and Willie Mae (Wyrick) Porter; and sister, Rhonda Zetzman.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the International Association of Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation or the .
Pallbearers will be Terry Hendley, Allen Waddell, Lance Campbell, Paul King, Jarrett Knowles and Grant Madden all members of the Sweetwater Fire Department.
