James Roland Brown Obituary
James Roland Brown passed from this earth peacefully on Friday, June 16, 2017. There to meet him at the gates of heaven were his mother, Willie Lee Brown and his father, F.M. Brown, along with several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Lester Cavitt and Rev. Kevin Shipp officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, June 19, 2017 at the funeral home. Roland will be missed here on earth by his wife, Frances Brown, his three daughters, Sheri Pelath and her husband John of Round Rock, TX, Debra Brown and her partner Rhonda Eggleston of Midland, TX, Sonia Pinkerton and her husband David of Sweetwater, TX. Along with grandchildren, Allison Pinkerton Nall, Kylan Pelath, James Pelath, Robert Hernandez, Jade Pinkerton, Breanna Brown. Roland was born on September 19, 1939 in Sweetwater, TX. He was a lifelong resident of Sweetwater, playing football and baseball as a Mustang, working and raising his family in this community he called home. He married his forever sweetheart, Frances Chastain, September 1, 1961 in Sweetwater. He also served his country in the US Army stationed at Fort Gordon, Georgia. He was employed by all the three gypsum plants in the Sweetwater area over his lifetime, working his way up to Senior Maintenance Supervisor at National Gypsum in Rotan, Texas where he retired in 2004. More importantly, Roland was a self -proclaimed "Tinkerer", continually working on a project around the house. He worked so he could play. Roland and Frances enjoyed many years in retirement traveling, camping and cruising with friends and family. They created lasting memories through their adventures together. Roland loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending as much time with them as possible. He was a positive influence and touch the lives of so many people. He was a strong, protective, loving husband and father who will be missed every day. Pallbearers will be James Pelath, Kylan Pelath, Robert Hernandez, Charles Lightfoot, Brent Lightfoot and Scott Chastain. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mccoyfh.com.
