ABILENE - Jay Mosher, 81, of Abilene died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015 at First Evangelical Methodist Church (6010 US-277) in Abilene with Rev. Jerry McNeill officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Loraine Cemetery under the direction of Bailey-Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015 at the First Evangelical Methodist Church.
Jay was born Sept. 11, 1934 in Bryan, Texas to Philip and Effie Elizabeth (Stewart) Mosher. He lived in the Abilene and Loraine areas the majority of his life. On June 8, 2002, Jay married Jerry Ann Baucum Phelps in Abilene. Jay worked in the construction field for 32 years, and was a roofer for Barr Roofing Co. He was known to be able to fix anything with a little super glue and duct tape. Jay loved each and everyone of his family.
Jay is survived by his wife, Jerry Ann Baucum Phelps Mosher of Abilene; three sons, Jamie Phelps and wife Ann Margaret of Benbrook, James Mosher of Abilene and Philip Mosher of Granbury; one brother, Bennett Mosher and wife Loretta of Loraine; three sisters, Loice Aries (his twin) and husband Luis of San Antonio, Irene Mosher of Loraine and Esther Hood and husband Norman of Louisiana; one sister-in-law, Janie Mosher of DeLeon; one granddaughter, Amber Rose Mosher; mother-in-law, Paulette Baucum of Abilene; and numerous nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Jerry Wade and Danny Charles Mosher; two sisters, Elizabeth McWhorter and Ruth Williams; three brothers, Ted, Lester and Gus Mosher; and father-in-law, Garland Baucum.
