J.D. Rowan Obituary
Services for J.D. Rowan, 77, of Abilene, will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Reverend Tim O'Brien and Reverend Greg Clemmer officiating. Interment will follow at Roscoe Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at McCoy Funeral Home.
Rowan died on Sunday, May 22, 2016 in Abilene.
He was born on October 27, 1938 in Roby, Texas. He married Shirley Faye Shultz on August 22, 1959 in Sweetwater.
Survivors include his daughters, Vickie Clemmer and husband Greg of Abilene, TX and Melissa O'Brien and husband Tim of Gravette, AR; grandsons, David O'Brien and wife Kayleigh of Springdale, AR, and Austin O'Brien of Gravette, AR; sisters, Margaret Proctor of Sweetwater, and Frances Utley of Mineola, TX; brother, Jackie Rowan of Sweetwater; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Rowan, on April 6, 2004; his parents, Francis Marion and Mattie Lee Hale Rowan; his granddaughter, Elizabeth O'Brien; and his brother, Billy Rowan.
Pallbearers are Darron Franklin, Donald Franklin, Aaron Perkins, Tom South, George Werner, Kevin Ekstrom and Larry Harkelroad.
