Jessie "Deddy" Requejo Obituary
Jessie "Deddy" Requejo, 91 a long time resident of Sweetwater, was called home to his final resting place on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015. Services will be as follows: Viewing on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and also Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Rosary will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, at McCoy Chapel of Memories. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 11, 2015 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Burial will take place at Sweetwater Cemetery immediately following the Mass. Arrangements are under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Jessie was born Nov. 4, 1924 in Manchaca, Texas to Manuel Requejo and Sixta Quiroz Requejo. He married Dionisia DeLeon Requejo on Oct. 23, 1952 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska and in 1961 they moved to Sweetwater and started their family. He was employed by United States Gypsum for more than 30 years and retired in 1976.
He is survived by his children, one son, Manuel Requejo and wife Rita of Sweetwater; daughters, Sixta Hoover and husband Philip of Syracuse, IN, Elizabeth Meyer and husband Ferdinand V of Houston, Sarah Barrera and husband Carlos of Carrollton and Shellie Requejo and Richard Butts of Sweetwater; sisters, Isabel Garcia and husband Rosendo of Austin, Jean Cruz of Austin and Mary Requejo of California; grandchildren, Jessica (Scott) Wegener, Mark Requejo, Sgt. Major Christian (Angelica) Requejo, Angela Hoover, Monica Wesseler, Edie Alucema, Michelle (Kirk) Sipila, Christopher (Kristin) Requejo, T.J. Requejo and Gretchen Requejo; 24 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dionisia; mother, Elena Zapata Requejo; his sisters, Tomasita Requejo and Nellie Rodriguez; brothers, Marcello Requejo, Tony Requejo and Joe Requejo.
Pallbearers are Mark Requejo, Sgt. Major Christian Requejo, T.J. Requejo, Christopher Requejo, Scott Wegener and Justin Wegener.
Honorary Pallbearers are Andrew Requejo, Noah Martinez and Nicolas Alucema.
