John P. "Pete" Crain Obituary
John B. "Pete" Crain, age 90, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Nolan Cemetery with Reverend Duane McCoy and Mike Ensminger officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Nolan County Honor Guard.
Visitation will be Saturday from 6 until 8 P.M. at the funeral home. McCoy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pete married Julia Evelyn Holt November 6, 1947 in Sweetwater. They moved to Sweetwater from Nolan, Texas in 1950. He was a United States Army Veteran, and retired from Texas Electric Service Company, after 38 years of service as a lineman. He was a past member of the Sweetwater Bass Club, a past Sweetwater Mustang Booster member and was a Baptist.
Pete is survived by his son Jim Bob Crain and wife Sheila of Sweetwater, daughters Barbara Hammond of Temple, Texas, Shirley McCoy and husband Duane of Belton, Texas, eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn, parents John H. and Merel (Swanzy) Crain, daughters LaJane Crain Boyd, Bonnie Fay Crain, brother James Crain, sister Dorothy Bryce, grandson Cassidy Crain and son-in-law Jerry Evans.
Pallbearers will be Addison Crain, Jacob McCoy, Lucas Lara, Cody Whiting, Marty Rose and Josiah Crain.
