Leroy Hanshew, 74, life long resident of Sweetwater, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital. Services will be 2 P.M Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Avondale Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Acuna officiating. Interment will follow in the Sweetwater Cemetery directed by McCoy Funeral Home. There will be a family visitation Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at McCoy Funeral Home. Leroy was born September 27, 1946 in Lockhart, Texas to Walter Raymond (Ray) and Rosalie (Adkins) Hanshew Warren. Leroy moved to Sweetwater as a small child. He graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1965. He married Theda Rister November 19, 1966 in Merkel, TX. Leroy was an avid golfer, fisherman, and loved coaching Pee Wee League, Little League, and Pony League baseball, especially with his children. He also helped as a boxing coach with many young men. Leroy was a member of the Nolan County Sheriff's Possy and served as president for some time. He was a member of Avondale Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Theda Hanshew of Sweetwater, a daughter, Amanda Inman and husband Jeb of Baird, TX, three sons, Charles Aaron Hanshew and wife Erica of Lubbock, TX, Gerry Hanshew and wife Lorie of Clifton, TX, Terry Hanshew and wife Gayla of Snyder, TX, his mother, Rosalie Warren of Sweetwater, TX., a brother, Johnnie Hanshew and wife Nita of Arlington, TX, a sister, Jean Hash of Burleson, TX, twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, Zachery Inman, Chance Pipkin, Cole Hanshew, Landon Hanshew. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Hanshew and a brother Lonnie Hanshew.
