Linda Graham Obituary
Linda Graham, loving wife, mother and friend, passed away on Feb. 21, 2016, in her home in Sweetwater.
Linda Loretta Fessler was born on August 16, 1937, to Raymond and Eva Fessler, and grew up in and around Evant, Texas, where she met her future husband, Wesley "Wes" Graham, whom she married in 1955. They moved to Dallas, as Wes began his lifelong career with AT&T, and Linda was employed by Texaco. Their first son, David, was born in 1959.
In 1961, the family relocated to Sweetwater. Linda was a homemaker for many years, until after the birth of their son, Robert, in 1964. Thereafter, Linda worked for Sweetwater Cotton Compress, Echols Tax Services, and in 1973, she was employed by Texas State Technical Institute (now TSTC) in the admissions and records department. Linda rose to the position of Director of Admissions and Records and stayed until her retirement in 2000.
In that time, Linda also earned an Associate's degree from Western Texas University and a Bachelor's in Business from Wayland Baptist University
After her retirement, Linda was a tireless caregiver, tending to her husband, as he suffered a stroke that left him bedridden at home for 14 years, until his passing.
Linda was a voracious reader and was a frequent patron of the County-City Library. She enjoyed participating in book clubs and also was a proud member of the Rebeccas Bible Study Class at First Baptist Church, where she attended.
Linda was proceeded in death by her husband, Wes, in 2010.
She is survived by two sons, David (Lori) of Chicago, and Robert of Sweetwater.
Linda will lie in state at McCoy Funeral Home. A formal visitation will occur from 6-8 p.m. on Feb. 25, 2016.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at First Baptist Church of Sweetwater. Additional funeral service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016 at Pearl Methodist Church at Pearl Cemetery in Pearl, Texas at 2 p.m. All arrangements are under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
