Lucille B. Terry Obituary
Services for Lucille B. Terry, 91, of Sweetwater, will be held on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 1 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Kary Fry officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.
She died on Monday, June 22, 2015 in Sweetwater.
She was born on November 1, 1932 in Randolph, Texas. She married Delbert Biers on March 30, 1961 and later married Dr. Joe Terry on October 19, 1995.
Lucille has been in community since 1956. She was a Registered Nurse for 48 years and worked at Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia; Simmons Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater, TX; and Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Book Review Club, Hendrick Hospice, and Women's Forum. Lucille was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Sweetwater. She graduated from Hendrick Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. She was Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital's Employee of the Year (1991), and won the Women's Forum "1st Special Woman's" award for Claire Dyer award for Nursing (1998). Lucille was in the Cadet Nurse Corps during nursing school and she and two other nurses in her class spent the last six months of their training at McCloskey General Hospital in Temple Hospital, which was an amputation center for our men and women in service from World War II. She was also a Girl and Boy Scout leader.
Survivors include her daughter, Sonja Nash of Lubbock; granddaughter, Cressinda Hyatt and husband Blue of Midland; great-grandchildren: Chapel Hyatt and Collins Hyatt of Midland; sister, Bennie Ruth Moffett of San Antonio; sister, Betty Adams and husband Jim of Arlington; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; step-grandchildren, David and Jerry Terry of Hanover, MA, Susan and Harold Preston of Abilene, Mark and Becky Terry of Abilene, Scott and Brenda Terry of De Soto, TX; Liz Terry Howard of Sweetwater, and Patrick Terry and wife Jessica of Portland, Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice and Homer Lawlis; father, Thurman Arnold Bell; son, Leo "Buddy" Huddleston; husbands, Delbert Biers and Dr. Joe Terry; sister, Vella Tischhauser; and brothers-in-law, Arlon Sharp and Hoy K. Moffett.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Mayo, Colbie Guthrie, Phil Sharp, Chris Sharp and Blue Hyatt.
