Lucille Myrle (Parsons) Coker Obituary
The Last Flower in her Mother's Garden has gone to join her Heavenly Bouquet.
Lucille Myrle Parsons Coker, the last living of nine children born to James and Fredonia Parsons passed on Friday, December 16, 2016 at Nolan Nursing and Rehab. She was 99 years old. Services will be at McCoy Chapel of Memories on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Matt McGowen officiating. A visitation will be Monday evening, December 19 from 5 to 6:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Roby Cemetery directed by McCoy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Coker , along with her twin sister Byrle were born on May 12, 1917 in Thurber, Texas. Having lost her mother at the age of 7, she moved to Alpine, TX with an Aunt and Uncle along with her new born twin brothers. When she was 14, she moved to Roby, TX to live with her Father and sisters. It was there she met her future husband, Denziel Coker. They were married on October 28, 1933. They lived on the family farm until Denziel went to work for Hanson Galbrith Construction. He later went to work for Brown McKee in Lubbock where the four youngest children finished school. During his working years they lived in many Texas towns as well as several different States. While living in Lubbock, Myrle worked for Lubbock Schools as a Dietician. She moved to Sweetwater in 1975.
She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where she looked forward to Sunday mornings and the fellowship of her Sunday School Class until health prevented her from going.
Mrs. Coker was a soft spoken Lady, who's children will attest to the fact that getting a switch for her was better than her soft spoken reprimand.
Three things you never saw her without were her polished nails, beautiful earrings and her broom so she could sweep.
