Marieta Joy (Williams) Anz Obituary
SAN ANGELO - Marieta Joy Williams Anz, "Grandmommie/Momja," entered into the presence of her Savior Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016.
She was born to James Ruben Williams and Ruby Hollowell Williams on April 4, 1930 in Sweetwater. She spent the majority of her life in Sweetwater, where she graduated from high school. In Sweetwater she met the love of her life, John Anz. He had returned home from the U.S. Navy and was considering re-enlistment. His plans quickly changed and they were married on Jan. 9, 1948. Together they embarked on a 66 year storybook life. He was her prince and she his princess. They were a modern day fairy tale. He preceded her in death in 2014.
Marieta was the epitome of class and style. She made sure she looked beautiful every day and was seldom seen without her jewelry. She spent some time as a teacher's aide in Sweetwater in order to save money for the family. The rest of her life was spent as a homemaker. She and John had two beautiful daughters.
Upon John's retirement, they traveled the world and saw many beautiful places. She was very artistic. Among her many talents were painting and stained glass projects.
She was a long time member of First United Methodist Church in Sweetwater. John and Marieta moved to San Angelo in 2008 where they became members of First United Methodist Church.
Marieta was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; sister, Ione Zimmerlin; and special son-in-law Joe Ward. She is survived by her daughters; Cynthia J.
