Marilyn Eloise Price Obituary
Marilyn Eloise Price passed from this life on May 13, 2018, at the age of 88 years. Eloise was born on July 29, 1929, the baby of four children, was born to Dennis and Odessa (Kelly) Butler. Eloise spent several years in Roscoe but graduated from Trent High School in 1946; a year early and as salutatorian of her class. Later that year, she married Charles Adrian (C.A.) Price, and began the foundation of a strong family; characterized by devotion, loyalty and faith. Eloise made a life in several callings during her lifetime. She was a devoted wife for 64 years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother until the day she died. She worked tirelessly for over 30 years serving the students of Sweetwater High School as the manager of the school cafeteria. She was a semi-professional canasta player, and one of the finest comfort food cooks in the world. Above all Eloise leaves a legacy of love. She loved Jesus, and will be remembered as a truly godly woman, and genuine disciple of Christ. She loved her family and spent countless hours in the car visiting the newest grandchild or taking ten plates of food to the annual Butler family reunion. She was a true road warrior and was always up for a football game, band concerts, dance recital or track meet, as long as she could see "one of the kids." Eloise loved people. She volunteered at local charities, through her church, and heeded the commandment to love the Lord by feeding his sheep. Luke 21:15. Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, her husband C.A. Price, and her brother, Robert Butler. She is survived by her children, Mickey Price of Sweetwater, Joy Houston and husband Steve of Sweetwater, Gayle O'Hair and her husband Bill of Berthoud, Colorado, and Tina Thompson and her husband Terrell of Lubbock. Ten grandchildren; Sam Houston and Shirley, Stuart Houston and Heather, Skylar Houston and Ami, Jeffrey Price and Tami, Daniel Price and Leigha, Christopher O'Hair, Joel O'Hair and Kristen, Evan Thompson and Kathryn, Allison Thompson, and Morgan Thompson, by fourteen great grandchildren, and by four great-great grandchildren, two sisters; Alma Judd and Doris Shafer and her husband "Red". Her life had tremendous meaning and leaves a void that likely will never be filled. But we, too, know where she is. and long for a time when we will see her again. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there will be no more death, neither sorrow nor crying, neither shall there be pain. The former things are passed away, and behold, God makes all things new. Rev 21:4-5. Services will be at 2 P.M. Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at Highland Heights United Methodist Church (where she was a long time member) with Rev. Ryan Strebeck officiating. Interment will follow in the Sweetwater Cemetery directed by McCoy Funeral Home. A family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday evening at McCoy Funeral Home. Her grandsons will be pallbearers and her granddaughters will be honorary pallbearers. The family request memorials may be made to Highland Heights United Methodist Church, 1801 Lamar Street, Sweetwater, TX 79556. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mccoyfh.com.
