Patsy "Joy" Brookshire Obituary
Patsy "Joy" Brookshire, 88, passed away Monday, March 26, 2018 at her residence in Sweetwater. Services will be 2 P.M. Friday, March 30, 2018 at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Michael Harbour officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery directed by McCoy Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home. Joy was born June 18, 1929 in Sweetwater to J.A. "Easy" and Velma Jewel (Crane) Younger. She was a graduate of Sweetwater Newman High School in 1946 and Abilene Christine College in 1950. She married Robert Charles "Bob" Brookshire August 7, 1953 in Sweetwater. She raised three children while her husband had a 26 year career in the U. S. Air Force. She lived in Texas, Washington, California, Missouri, Japan and the Philippines. She returned to Sweetwater in 1978 and taught at TSTC over 20 years and was a Program Chair at retirement. She was a longtime member of Fourth and Elm Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband Major Robert C. "Bob" Brookshire May 10, 1999. She is survived by a daughter: Linda Carson and husband Dru of Sweetwater, TX, two sons: Dan Brookshire and wife Gigi of Plano, TX and Mike Brookshire and wife Lorrie of Saskatchewan, Canada, a sister; Billie Jo Neeper of Arlington, TX, her companion: Jack Cox of Sweetwater, TX. and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Bruce Coldiron, Steve Holcomb, Jim Kelley, Billy Whisenant and Kary Kent. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mccoyfh.com.
