Patsy Jane (Sessums) Diggs Obituary
Patsy Jane Sessums Diggs, 87, passed away Nov. 22, 2015 while in Hendrick Hospice.
The funeral will be Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015 at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Sweetwater, with Rev. Kary Fry and Dr. Cliff Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater. 
Pat, the oldest of seven children, was born in Rock Crossing, TX on Oct. 15, 1928, to Orville and Bonnie Sessums. She graduated from Vernon High School in 1945 and married Charles Diggs on April 18, 1947 in Vernon. Pat and Charles lived in Margaret until they moved to Sweetwater in 1950. After moving to Sweetwater, Pat worked as a bookkeeper for Lone Star Cement, Ferris, Harris, Chapman & Marsh Accounting and Bowen Drug. After leaving Bowen Drug, she began her career at Texas Electric. She retired in 1986 with more than 20 years of service. She was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the Evening Circle and Presbyterian Women. After retirement, she enjoyed activities with the book club at the Sweetwater County-City Library and Anthenaeum Club. She also enjoyed quilting at Faith Lutheran Church. Her hobbies included cooking, decorating, gardening and shopping. Beau and Prissy, her Bischons, were her constant companions until their deaths. She spent her later years with her Shih-Tzu, Dolly. 
After 64 years of marriage, Charles preceded her in death in May of 2011. Pat moved to Abilene in December of 2011, where she resided until her death. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Bonnie Sessums.
She is survived by her son, Mark Diggs and wife Nancy of Abilene; grandchildren, Shannon Diggs and Christopher Diggs of Abilene; great-granddaughter, Amari Heard of Abilene, who was a special joy to her in the last four years. She is also survived by her bothers and sisters, Marjorie Geoff of Baton Rouge, LA, Freddie Neal of Alvin, Grady Sessums and wife Sandy of Abilene, Jerry Luttrell and husband Martin of Andrews, Nelda Steely of Garden City, MO and Duane Sessums of Gallup, NM. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and special cousins Jane Diggs of Sweetwater and Patricia Mints of Vernon.
Pallbearers will be Keith Brock, Gary Brown, Christopher Diggs, Larry McAfee, Duane Sessums and Tim Hall.
Honorary pallbearer is Jack Aycock.
