Robert Stanley Butler Obituary
Robert Stanley Butler 86, of Sweetwater passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be 12:00 Noon Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Sweetwater Cemetery with Dr. Chris Stephens officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Stan was born October 27, 1930 in Rising Star, TX to the late William Henry and Georgia Gilbert (Nixon) Butler. Stan was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict. After his discharge he lived in Lubbock till 1994 where he was a Surveyor for 37 years at Hicks and Ragland Engineering Firm. After leaving Lubbock Stan and Lisa lived in Brownwood for 8 years and Sweetwater since 2003. He was a Baptist and enjoyed discussing the old testament. Stan enjoyed going to drink coffee and visit with people at SNAP. He loved spending time with family and enjoyed attending the kids sporting events.
Stan is survived by his wife Lisa Butler of Sweetwater, TX; daughter Debbie Givens and husband Ken of Lubbock, TX; son Mark Butler and wife Jill of Christoval, TX; sisters Mary Beth Lutz of Taylor, TX and Judy Hill and husband David of Burleson, TX; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sister Doris Hodges and brothers Joe and Gerald Butler.
