Wayland Keith Brewer Obituary
Wayland Keith Brewer was surrounded by loved ones when he went home to be with his Lord on Dec. 13, 2014.
Services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014 at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church. Rev. Brian Brownlow and Rev. Beau Brewer, son of Mr. Brewer will be officiating.
Visitation will be at McCoy Funeral Home on Monday from 6-8 p.m.
Keith was born on July 25, 1953 in Sweetwater, Texas to J.C. and Cora Mae Brewer of Sweetwater. Keith met the love of his life, Jeanne Nayfa Brewer of Sweetwater in 1988, while he was working in the oilfield as a welder. They were married one year later on Jan. 23, 1989 by Rev. William Mayo, pastor of the Evangelical Methodist Church of Sweetwater. Their Christ-centered marriage was an inspiration to all that knew them. Keith and Jeanne had a special love and commitment to each other. Keith was a loving and caring person and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Keith served his country during the Vietnam War as a Master Chief Petty Officer Nuclear Welder in the U.S. Navy.
Keith was an active member of the Sweetwater community. He was also a member of the Sweetwater Emmaus. Keith always loved and supported his community.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Fred E. Nayfa.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanne; son, Beau Keith and daughter-in-law, Christa of Fort Worth; daughter Ashley, and son-in-law, Danny Gomez of Lubbock; grandchildren are Kadyn Anthony Gomez, Jacob Wakene Brewer and Nuriah Abigail Gomez.
He was lovingly referred to as "Pops."
Pallbearers will be the Buzzi Boys: Pablo Villanueva, Wally Reyes, Ceasar (Junior) Ramirez, Rene Sanchez, Chris Garza, Lance Autrey, Danny Gutierrez and Matt Hansen.
Honorary pallbearers are: Billy Eivens, Jim Wilson, Jerry Roberts, Chad Eivens, Welton Guelker, Paul Scott, Bobby Dan Wood, Jeff Steins, Terry Boley, Gary Putman, Kadyn Gomez and Jacob Brewer.
The family wishes to extend a very special thanks to Dr. Larry McEachern, MD and all the compassionate nurses and staff of the Rolling Plain Rural Health Clinic and Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital for the loving care that was given to Keith.
The family would like to thank Dr. Elpidia H. Balbastro, MD of Hendrick Cancer Center and the loving nursing staff in the oncology unit. Dr. David Fogelman, MD, of MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas and the loving staff.
We also want to thank the Hendrick Medical Center and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Hendrick Hospice Center nurses and staff for the concern, care and love given to both Keith and Jeanne.
We would like to thank the Community of Sweetwater for their love and concern for Keith. He loved Sweetwater and was touched by so many while he set an example of what it was to be a good and Godly man that loved life and everyone around him.
Donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Sweetwater, Texas and the Sweetwater Emmaus Community in his honor.
