Wayman Franklin Leverton Obituary
Wayman Franklin Leverton, age 78, passed away at his residence at Lake Sweetwater on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016 after a lengthy battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016, at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home Chapel in Rotan.
Wayman was born on Jan. 22, 1938 in Canyon Valley community, near Ralls, Texas to Oscar and Dora Leverton. Wayman's siblings include J.C., Floyd, Helen and Juanita, all of whom survive him. On Sept. 3, 1986, Wayman married Schooler-Samukawa in Merkel. Wayman was a part owner of L&M Tractor in Rotan. He was also the gin superintendent at both the Farmers Gin and the Rotan Gin Company. He retired from the Rotan Gin in March 2000. Wayman and Schooler lived on the Sweetwater Lake for many wonderful years. Wayman was a selfless man who enjoyed helping all of his family, friends and neighbors whether it be with construction projects, mowing yards or just giving helpful "how to" advice.
Wayman was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Dora Leverton; and two infant daughters, Laura and Lynn.
Survivors include his wife, Schooler-Samukawa of Lake Sweetwater; his children, April S. Ewing of Abilene, Sonya Dunn and husband Billy, of Tyler and Darrin Leverton and wife Sharron of Colorado City. He is also survived by grandchildren, Eric Brann, serving abroad in the US Navy, Mindi Dunn of McKinney, Haley Stanley and husband Landon of Tyler, Kirk Leverton of Colorado City and Alyssa Leverton of Tyler. Wayman had two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
