Willie Elton James Obituary
Willie Elton James, age 73, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017 in McKinney, Texas. He was born in Kiowa, Oklahoma on May 20, 1944 to Boyd James, Sr. and Fannie Belle (Modisette) James. He was the proud father of Debe James of Fort Worth, TX and Jason James of Melissa, TX.
Willie worked in the oilfield in various capacities until his retirement from Chevron Pipeline in 2006. He had a lifelong love for horses. He was a member, and former President, of the Nolan County Sheriff's Posse. Willie spent more than 20 years combined as a reserve Police Officer with the Sweetwater Police Department and as a reserve Deputy with the Ector County Sheriff's Department. He also volunteered with the Roscoe Volunteer Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Boyd James, Jr., Albert Dale James, and Sherman Wayne James; sisters Mary Lucille Horton, Silvia Alva Nell Wilmoth, Emma Adeline James, Clara Belle James, and Shirley Jane James.
He is survived by his two children, his brother C.H. James of Artesia, NM, his sister Betty Shelton of Hamilton, TX, brother Frank James of Newnan, GA, sister Ruby Johnson of Cisco, TX, brother Harold James of Gainesville, TX, his grandson Carson James, granddaughter Callie James, and a whole slough of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Services will be 10 A.M. Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Lamar Street Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Norton officiating. Interment will follow in Sweetwater Cemetery directed by McCoy Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5 to 7 P.M. at McCoy Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be:
