Fedele Vero Obituary

Vero November 2, 2005 Fedele Angelo (Fred) Vero, 76, of 106 Ellen Dr., Chittenango, died Wednesday, November 2, 2005, in Ocala, Florida. Born in the Bronx, Fred was a resident of Chittenango 50 years. He was a high school social studies teacher in the Cazenovia Central School District for 34 years, retiring in 1984. He was also a cross country and track coach at Cazenovia for many years, for which he was nominated and will be inducted into the Cazenovia High School Sports Hall of Fame on November 25, 2005. He participated in the NYS Senior Olympics where he was state champion in the Pentathlon. He was also an antique car collector. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Alta Vero; three daughters, Marie Kuhl of St. Charles, MO, Janice (Steve) Lincoln of Phoenix, NY, and Alta (Chris) Hamelinck of Chittenango; two sons, Frank (Sherri) Vero of Ocala, Fla., and Fred (Carolyn) Vero of Lawrenceville, GA; and 11 grandchildren, Danielle Kinahan, Jennifer and Lori Kuhl, Gabriella, Grant and Audrey Vero, Claire Vero, Christopher and Zachary Hamelinck, and Lynnsey and Erich Sorrentino. He was predeceased by two daughters, Lynn Evans and Angela Vero. Funeral services will be private. Calling hours will be noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the G.F. Zimmer Funeral Home, 702 Legion Drive. The family will also receive friends at a life celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Wm. Cain American Legion Post on Legion Drive in Chittenango. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Sullivan Free Library Building Fund or the Village of Chittenango Neighborhood Trail and Creek Walk Project, c/o Donna Lynch, Jacob Lane, Chittenango, NY 13037. I was sorry to hear of Fred's death, and my condolences to out to his family. I last spoke with Fred at our 35th class reunion this year, and he continued to inspire me, as he did when he was my track coach. He will be sorely missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Vero was one of my first (and greatest) impressions of seventh grade and he was a part of our class until we graduated in 1959. He touched many lives.
