James "Candy" Johnson January 7, 2021 James "Candy" Johnson, 70, went to his heavenly home on January 7, 2021, after a valiant battle with cancer for many years. James honorably served in the U.S. Air Force. James was predeceased by his mother and father, Elizabeth and James Johnson, and two sisters, Anna Singleton and Margaret Johnson. He is survived by his daughters: Tina R. Johnson-Marcel of Fairfax County, Va., Candace M. Johnson of Syracuse, Nicole Johnson of Syracuse, Candy Johnson of Maryland, Shairtira McQueen of North Carolina; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and Linda, his loving partner of 24 years. He is also survived by his sisters, Eloise Currie and Loretha Baums (Roosevelt) both of Syracuse. Family will receive visitors on January 13, 2021 from 10 a.m. to noon at The Well of Hope Church, 1640 South Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13207. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, private services will follow for family only. James will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery.
