Fred Lee Fredericks passed away on December 15, 2010 at the age of 76. He was born in Los Angeles, California to Morris and Mabel Fredericks. After serving in the Air Force, he attended El Camino College and Long Beach State. He was married three times and raised seven children.
Fred's professional career included real estate development in the Los Angeles area and the Santa Ynez Valley. He developed large tracts of homes, apartment complexes and started Republic Bank in Gardena. He eventually sold his real estate offices in the Los Angeles area and moved his family to Santa Ynez in 1972, where he was able to breed and race horses, build what is now known as the Marriott Hotel in Buellton, as well as Federico's Mexican Restaurant, Parks Plaza Theatre and Krystal's Ice Cream Parlour. He lived life to the fullest, and was fond of saying that he did everything at least once.
Fred Fredericks was known for his generosity to family and friends, who will miss him greatly. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Darlene and grandson Jeffrey. Survivors include daughters Teresa, Kimberlee and Krystal; sons Frank, Robert (B.T.), Rob Lee and Bradlee; brothers Miles and Derf; sister Janice; ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and very special friends who were with him until the end, Tomas Gonzalez and Merv Mexico.
In accordance with Fred's wishes, there will not be a formal service. His ashes will be buried in the scatter garden at Oak Hill Cemetery in Ballard, California. It has been suggested that those wishing to do so can make contributions to Fred's favorite charity in his memory: The Society Devoted to The Sacred Heart, located at 9814 Sylvia, Northridge, CA 91324, Attn: Sister Jane Stafford.
