Douglas Scott Weitzel

Douglas Scott Weitzel, 50, of Tallahassee, passed away on May 2, 2014. The son of Richard and Ann Weitzel of Hilton, New York, he was born on June 8, 1963 in Rochester New York. Doug was known for his love of sports, especially his love of the New York Yankees and any game in which one of his daughters played. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his generous nature and his love for family.

Doug grew up in upstate New York, lived for many years in Libertyville, Illinois and moved to Tallahassee, Florida in 2006. Doug graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and received a B.A., in Physics from Ithaca College. At the time of his death, he was a Senior Quality Consultant with Bioteknica based in Miami and owned his own consulting firm, Weitzel and Associates.

Doug is survived by his wife of 22 years, Linda (Traylor) Weitzel; daughters, Kristina, 21, Sarah, 17, and Rebecca, 16; his parents, Richard and Ann Weitzel of Hilton, NY; his sister and brother-in-law, Linda Jean Weitzel and Mark Fross of Rochester; his nephew, Zach Johnson of Rochester; his father and mother-in-law, Jack and Eugenia Traylor as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 8th at the Timberlane Church of Christ at 1p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the "Doug Weitzel Memorial Fund" an educational fund for his daughters.
