Paul D. O'Connell

Paul D. O'Connell, Tallahassee, FL, formerly of Rochester, NY, died peacefully at home at the age of 90.

Paul was born in Clifton Springs, NY, the son of Irish immigrants, James O'Connell and Johanna Moloney. Paul served in the Navy during WWII as a radioman on the USS Pennsylvania. He graduated from RPI and enjoyed a long career as an Architect in Rochester, the Florida State Department of Engineering and FEMA. He was a talented builder and loved sports, especially basketball, the NY Yankees, Boston Celtics and all things Notre Dame. His special love was time with his family and vacations at the ocean. He was admired by all for his kindness, wisdom and humility. He will always be, as he always was, a loving husband and father.

He is predeceased by brothers, John, Rev. James, Edward, Thomas, Francis, Robert, sister Mary and son Daniel. He is survived by one brother Rev. Richard O'Connell, his wife Anne Marie (Lydon) O'Connell, children Michael (Rosemary), Ellen (James) Bazzoli, Mary O'Connell, Thomas (Debra), Teresa (Michael) Berger, Richard (Mary), Robert (Kim), Nora (Gary) Welch, Ann (Chris) Cantlon and Maureen (Brett) Franklin, 24 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

His friends are invited for Visitation at the Bevis Funeral Home, 2710 North Monroe St. from 5-7:00pm on Friday. The Funeral Mass will be at Blessed Sacrament, 624 Miccosukee Road on Saturday March 29th at 11:00am. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, Catholic Masses be offered at Blessed Sacrament for Paul and Daniel O'Connell.
