Donald S. Keaton Donald S. Keaton, 66, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008, surrounded by his loving family. Don inspired and influenced everyone around him – his friends, his family, his co-workers, and the children and their families whom he worked with as a family counselor. His life was full of moments of bravery and strength. No one who met him will ever forget him, and everyone who knew him is better because of it. Don was a lifelong Tallahassee resident who graduated from Leon High School. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in social work from Florida State University. He is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Rebecca M. Keaton; his daughter and son-in-law, Kymberly Keaton-Emmert and Nathaniel Emmert-Keaton; his brother, Bill Keaton; his sister and brother-in-law, Jeanne and Ervin Gatlin; his brother and sister-in-law, John and Helen Keaton; his nieces, Margaret Smith and Susan Utley; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the nursing staff of the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital emergency room and Cardiovascular ICU for their compassionate, skilled and loving care. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Capital City Youth Services or Big Bend Hospice. Don's friends and family will hold a memorial service to celebrate his life Sunday, July 27, from 2 to 6 p.m. EDT at Dorothy B. Oven Park.

Dearest Becky, Kym & Mary:
Many prayers are being lifted up to our Heavenly Father for your comfort and peace during this sad time. May you hold on to all the loving memories of Don forever.
May you always draw your strength from God in the days ahead and always feel His loving arms around.
I never met Don but feel like I have thru the stories told by C.C. and Mary.
Thinking of you, praying for you and sending my love from Lake Placid.

May Don's family find solace and peace in this time of loss. I knew Don in high school many, many years ago. We had such fun together---he was a kind, dear person then and it seems he remained so all of his life.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

I was saddened to learn of your loss. This incredible man touched the heart of my family and supported my daughter through her lifes' journey whilst she lived Quincy. We will always remember Don as the man with the enormous heart, biggest spirit and one of the kindest men I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Thank you and our thoughts are with you.
