Gertrude Bayer Hosford Obituary
Gertrude Bayer Hosford

Tallahassee - Gertrude (Trudy) Bayer Hosford passed away at the age of 86 on July 8, 2018, at her daughter's home in Calvary, Ga., following a short battle with cancer. Mrs. Hosford was born in Czechoslovakia on July 1, 1932 and raised in Germany until she married and came to the United States of America. She loved the U.S. and occasionally went back to Muldorf, Germany to visit family and mostly enjoyed when her family would visit her in Tallahassee.

Mrs. Hosford was preceded in the death by her husband, John (Bill) W. Hosford and grandson, Adam Kyle Davis.

She is survived by her children, Patricia Cooksey Elkins (James) of Calvary, GA., John P. Cooksey (Carolyn) of Lloyd, FL., Emily O. Cooksey of Pensacola, FL. and Charlotte (Crickett) Hosford Johnson, of Alligator Point, FL. Survivors also include seven grandchildren, Laura Underwood Hill of Pensacola, FL; Samantha Cooksey Strickland (Patrick), Paul (Tony) Hamilton Cooksey (Melissa), Nicholas Cooksey (Sarah) all of Lloyd, Fl; Jessica Gayle Johnson, William Jett Johnson, and Adam Jonathan Johnson, all of Tallahassee, FL; and 12 great grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Helga Sennefelder, and brother, Gerhardt Bayer, both of Germany; and many nieces and nephews.

In keeping with her wishes, Mrs. Hosford will be cremated and the family will have a service in her memory, at a later date, during which her remains will be placed by her beloved husband (Bill) in Oakland Cemetery, Tallahassee, FL.

The family would like to thank all family and friends that attended her birthday party on July 1, 2018. She was so happy and loved every moment of the day. Also, to Hospice of Southwest Georgia, your staff helped our family handle her passing with dignity and peace, we are eternally grateful for the compassion shown to us.
