Tallahassee - Marion Josephine Ferrell Buford passed away at her home, July 8th, 2018. She was one week shy of celebrating her 102nd birthday. Marion received her Bachelor's degree from Florida State College for Women (1937) and later her Master's degree from Florida State University (1955). She retired from Tallahassee Community College, having the distinction of being the College's first Registrar. She valued education and was a life-long student. Marion learned to play golf later in life and it soon became her passion. She played into her 90s. She was active in the Ladies' Golf Association at Capital City Country Club, a member of the Tallahassee Women's Club and the League of Women Voters. Marion was predeceased by her parents, Julius B and Frances R Ferrell, a sister Ruth Ferrell O'Grady and brother in law, Declan, husband Albert L (Jack) Buford, Sr. granddaughter Leslie (Buford) Vause and most recently her son, Julius (Juicy) Buford. Survivors include her children: Jack Buford, Jr. (Tanny) of Tallahassee, a daughter Fran Buford of Salt Lake City, Utah, grandchildren Lewis Buford (Georgia), Alice Buford, Alycia Lynn (Buford) Boudreau (Brett), Darien (Buford) Gallian (Levi), Brian Proch (Julie), Jackie (Sauls) Doyle (Adam) and a daughter-in-law Fran Elofson Buford (widow of Juicy), 11 great grandchildren (and number 12, Charlotte Doyle is due in August). A graveside service will be held at Oakland Cemetery, Friday, July 13 at 4 pm. Following the service, friends and family are asked to join together at 7354 Heartland Circle, to celebrate this special lady's life. A special thank you to Cassandra, Cheaquita and Sade for caring for and loving our Mom. You all took her into your families, shared so many memorable events and loved her like your own. She loved each of you and we are forever grateful for your loyalty. The family asks that in lieu of sending flowers that you make a charitable contribution to the Lustgarten Pancreatic Cancer Research Foundation, Big Bend Hospice or a . Susie Mozolic of Bevis Funeral Home ( 850-385-2193) is assisting the family with their arrangements.
