Atlanta - Mary Sherer McCreary, 64, passed away peacefully in her sleep; after losing her fight with Alzheimer's Disease, Saturday, October 27, 2018.

Mary was born April 13, 1954 to parents, Edward J. and Beverly J. Sherer in Fremont, Ohio. Mary was the oldest of 7 and was the protector and comforter to her younger siblings. She grew up in Ocala, FL, Panama City, FL and Tallahassee, FL. She attended Amos P. Godby H.S. and was part of the first graduating class of 1972. She attended Florida State University and received her Business & Finance degree. She started her career in accounting with Mobile Home Industries in Tallahassee, FL, where she met her future husband Lloyd from Atlanta, Georgia. The two were quite the couple; he was the "diehard" Florida Gator and Mary was the "Nole Girl" and on game day it was a house divided!! They were married December 26,1981 and moved from Tallahassee to Atlanta. She was employed as a CPA with Arthur Andersen & Co., Price Waterhouse and Scientific Atlanta. They also lived in Sacramento, CA and Austin, TX for brief periods of time.

Mary loved music, song, dancing and sang in the Corpus Christi Catholic Church choir in Stone Mountain, Georgia. She was a devout Catholic; involved in serving the church and became a leader in the Women's Club. Mary enjoyed going out in nature on walks. She had a love for her dogs; Sammy and Cadillac, Frazier and Fraysha. One of her favorite activities while staying at the Montclair Personal Care Home in Decatur, was receiving communion by the lake at Clairmont Place. Most important to Mary though, was her love of family; especially her son Edward.

The staff at Clairmont were caring and devoted to Mary for the past 2 years. She also received excellent care and grace from Crossroads and Halycon Hospice. The family is very grateful to the loving people that assisted her through her illness.

She is survived by her Husband, Lloyd McCreary, Atlanta, GA, son, Edward McCreary, Chicago, IL, sisters, Helen Sherer, Susan Doherty (Mike), Patti Evans (Ray) and a brother, John Sherer (Dawn) of Tallahassee, FL. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward & Beverly Sherer, a sister, Rita and a brother, Walter.

There will be a graveside memorial service, Monday, November 19, 2018 at Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Mary's memory to: The Alzheimer's Project or your local Alzheimer's chapter.
