Ruth Ann Paxton Bupp Obituary
Ruth Ann Paxton Bupp

Ruth Ann Paxton Bupp, 105, died peacefully Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Westminster Oaks. She was born in College Corner, Ohio on October 20, 1907, the daughter of the late John McDill and Sarah Shera Paxton, the fifth of seven children. She experienced the most significant changes of any generation, starting life in a farming and rural setting, attending a one room school until high school and living through the present age of technology, adapting to each change without sacrificing any of her beliefs and values.

She was a graduate of Muskingum College, New Concord, Ohio. She had been a teacher, administrative assistant and librarian during her working years.

In 1939, she married Reno Wayne Bupp, a fellow teacher, and after he returned from World War II moved to Florida. They were married 33 years until his death in 1972.

She was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee. She loved to play the piano and sing her favorite hymns. She had a deep trust and faith in God.

She loved to knit, crochet, quilt and garden and would share her talent with friends. She showed her talent for art in the lovely paintings she created for loved ones. She was an avid traveler and did so with friends. The highlight of her travels was her trip to Scotland and Ireland and discovering her Scots-Irish roots.

She is survived by her two daughters, Sue Ann Williamson (Jerry) of Tallahassee and Bonnie Bupp of Orlando, two grandchildren, Leslie Williamson of Atlanta and David Williamson (Tracy) of Charlotte, North Carolina and two great grandchildren, Paxton and Riley Williamson of Charlotte. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her siblings, Helen, Maude, Samuel, Gordon, Martha and Emma.

The family expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the staff at West Minster Oaks Health Care Center for their love, care and compassion for our mother.

A private service is planned for a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the Endowment Fund of First Presbyterian Church, 110 South Adams Street, Tallahassee, Florida 32301 or Westminster Oaks Foundation, 4449 Meandering Way, Tallahassee, Florida 32308. Bevis Funeral Home (850) 385-2193, www.bevisfh.com, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
