In July 2003 the Salimone family relocated to the Tallahassee area, settling in the Killearn Lakes Plantation area. Mrs. Salimone enjoyed teaching at the Maclay School as a first grade teacher. I had many classes with Sherry at Stetson, and I was also her cheer Partner. She was a great friend and a great person. I have just started to reconnect with people from Stetson when I tried to look her up and found this. I am truly sorry and sadened to find this out. I pray she is with the lord.

My thoughts are with Sherry's family. I was shocked and saddened to hear of her passing. I never saw her after Spruce Creek as I moved away but I do remember riding the school bus (elementary maybe?) with both Sherry and Scott. It warms my heart to think she dedicated her life to teaching. Her memory will always remain in the hearts of the people who's lives she touched.

It's been two weeks and I am still in denial. I will always look to you for strength no matter what. I miss you so much. I wish I could go back and get one more hug or one more lunch spent eating ramen noodles in your classroom. I'd tell you that I love you and thank you for seeing past my fake smiles, deep into my eyes, and knowing something was wrong.

You will live in my heart and memory forever.

Mr. Lonnie and Shelby, you are both still in my prayers. Not too long ago I e-mailed Mrs. S to thank her for everything and she said I had blessed her. But it was I who was blessed to have had such a wonderful and amazing person in my life. Thank you both for sharing her with me.

Dear Lonnie, Shelby and Mr. and Mrs. Demore:

We are so saddened to hear of Sherry's homegoing, and we have prayed for her through all these years of this battle she has fought.
Knowing the two of you at church when we were just newlyweds ourselves, you always blessed us with a wonderful smile and strong handshake and hug. I will forever remember Sherry teaching our ladies Sunday school class and giving one special lesson on "silver boxes". That has stayed with me ever since she brought that silver box into our class and seriously taught the Word of God to us ladies. Even though she was younger than me she was far more educated in the Word and taught me much. You always supported our business at its beginning and we love you and thank you for that. Sherry's baby shower for Shelby was a blessing and I will never forget her holding some things up and asking what they were for. I knew she could handle motherhood easily because she wasn't stressed out at all -- just radiantly beautiful carrying that baby girl.

We are blessed to have seen her last fall and had a visit after her reunion weekend; and heard her continue praising Her Lord and how He was with her and holding her in His lap.

I can only hope to aspire to be such a Woman of God. We will continue to pray for mom and dad and Lonnie and Shelby -- we can only rejoice in the hope we have for forever with her!

In Christ,
Greg & Audrey

Bill, Sandy, Lonnie, Shelby and Family: Sherry and I were best friends in junior high and shared some wonderful memories together. I was so sorry to hear about her illness and now her passing. It's been years since we were in touch. I think Shelby was only 3 years old then. Sherry was truly a wonderful person with a passion for life and love. It seems like yesterday when would come back to her house after school, make french fries on the fry-daddy, eat cake batter til we were sick and sing "Oh, Sherry" by Steve Perry. One of our best memories was when neither of our parents could drive us to one another's house for a sleepover one night, so Sherry decided she would take a taxi. She arrived safely, thanks to the can of hairspray and steak knife she had in her purse for the ride. (Not sure if she ever shared that with you mom and dad :). I know then how much she loved life and her family and I can only imagine the amount of love she had for her daughter and husband. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers and forever keep Sherry in my heart.

With love and sympathy,
Kim Thurston-Martin

Dear Lonnie and Shelby (mi querida Cecilia),
Grace and peace to you both right now... I mourn with you and hurt for your loss... I also rejoice in Sherry's awesome homegoing. As I read through the entries in this registry from all over the country, I reflected on just how many homes Sherry has had on this earth. It seems that wherever she went, the sweet aroma of Christ went with her. That is so evident from the words I have read here. Finally, she is in the truly last home - the one that lasts forever - rejoicing with her Lord. I read again Paul's words in 2 Corinthians as I thought about her homecoming with all the saints.. "If the earthly tent we live in is torn down, we know that we have one from God, not made by human hands, but lasting forever in heaven. To be sure, in our present dwelling we sigh as we long to put on the dwelling we have from heaven." Sherry has finally made it to her heavenly dwelling, where we all long to be someday. Her absence brings us (and most certainly you) pain, but her homegoing moves us to rejoice. I offer you my prayers for peace and comfort and I thank God that I had the chance to know such a faithful servant in Sherry. Surely she sits at the banquet table of the Lamb. with love, Prudence Sloderbeck

Shelby, Lonnie, and the DeMores. My daughter, Tammaye, and Sherry went to Spruce Creek High School together and cheered together. Bill and Sandy, as a mother, I cannot begin to fathom the pain of losing a child. What a legacy you gave to this world. I remember Sherry as a beautiful girl with that wonderful peaches and cream complexion, her magnificent curly blond hair, her radiant and ever-present smile, her simple goodness.... and that brain. What a positive force she was! Shelby, losing your mother, especially at your tender age, is a horrible thing, and I keep you in my heart. I am sure you will live a life that will honor your mom and be a testament to the care and love with which she and your dad raised you. Take comfort in knowing that your precious mother lives on within you. Lonnie, please accept the sincere condolences of this total stranger who knew the love of your life. My greatest passion is working with the American Cancer Society to raise funds for research to find a cure for breast cancer. Sherry is one more reason I devote myself to this important work. I volunteer in her memory and her honor. Tammaye and some other of Sherry's high school friends walked in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in her honor last October; their team was named simply, "For Sherry". They will walk again this year in loving memory of their extraordinary friend. I am so happy her strong faith was such a source of strength to her. Sherry holds a special place in my memory. I will keep the entire family in my heart and my prayers. The earth is better because she was here. I feel blessed to have known her. God bless you all.

Dearest Lonnie, Shelby, and family,
We are holding you up in prayer. The memories that flood our hearts and minds are many...as our families
shared some beautiful moments together when our girls were younger and have shared through all the years...letters, cards, poems, and pictures. I loved Sherry so! Out of all the interns I've ever had to this day...she was absolutely the best! She was so very precious, talented, gifted, creative, and genuine. She loved her German chocolate and her sandwiches with no condiments adorning them. She had a heart like no other...loving and unselfish, kind and warm. Her love for the Lord, her family and children truly shone through her life and her smile. We are here for you whenever you need us. Please stay in touch. And dear Shelby, your mom was teaching with me when she became pregnant with you. She went from eating one sandwich at lunchtime, to two. We truly love you both and are so sorry that your wife/mom/friend will no longer walk this Earth with you, but trust that God, in His infinite wisdom, continues to have plans for your lives and that your lives will not only honor Him, but will honor all that Sherry stood for as well. From the depths of our hearts!!!!Tres and Les Williams & Emme and Jerm Decker <><

Sherry and I grew up together going to Silver Sands and Spruce Creek. We spent weekends together and long conversations on the phone. Our lives separated as we grew older, but we always had memories of our younger days. Seeing her at the high school reunion last year, meeting her husband and viewing pictures of her daughter was a quick catch up. Although she was fighting for her life, you would never know. Her beautiful smile lit the room as she entered and she looked just as marvelous as she ever had. Keep the memories close to your heart, I will.

During the early 70's my family went to the Daytona 500 and parked beside a family known as the Demores. We celebrated a beautiful girls birthday that year at the race track and did so many years after that. That was the start of many beautiful memories of Sherry and the family. I remember being at her parent's house when she had her first date, watching her eat cake batter, graduate from high school and college and the birth of her daughter. I was inspired by Sherry and know that many people were. I send my condolences to Lonnie, Shelby and my good friends Bill and Sandy. I know she is in a better place now and the world is a better place for having known her.
