William L. "Will" Luck

Meigs, GA - William L. "Will" Luck, 73, passed away on June 3, 2018 at the VA Hospital Hospice Unit in Lake City, FL.

A native of Brooklyn NY, he spent his youth in South Florida. He served in the United States Air Force as a Medical Corpman and afterward worked as a respiratory therapist before beginning his life's work as a visual artist. Well known among contemporary Outsider Arts circles, Will brought joy to thousands of people with his colorful paintings which he said were about "what it means to be human." He said many times that art is the spirit made real, and his vibrant, generous spirit shines through in his collective body of work.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Evelyn Luck. Will is survived by his wife, Carolyn Flowers; stepdaughter Claire Diao, her husband, Joe Diao, and grandchildren Caleb, Penelope, and Xavier Diao of Orange Park, FL; brothers Richard (Candy) of Panama City, FL, and George (Joyce) of Crawfordville, FL; a sister, Theresa Luck (Lyle Palmer) of Hollywood, FL; nephews Scott Luck and Richard Luck, and nieces Terri Luck, Nicole Sheheane, and Tammy Luck.

A Celebration of Will's Life will be held at a future date, to be announced.

Carolyn-
I did not know Will had passed until today. I too am a collector of his artwork. I have always cherished them and wanted to add to my collection and my search brought me here. Please accept my deepest condolences to you, your family and friends. Will was one of the sweetest, kindest and happiest men I have ever had the honor of meeting. Thank you for bringing so much beauty to the world through your artwork. G-d Speed Will.

The Flowers of Amarillo have brought us pleasure ever since we discovered Will through his print. We were searching for "pop" and his work provided that joyful bouquet. Thank you, Will, for your inspiration and for walking that path.

Will's images and music touched so many and always made them smile. Our family was blessed to know him as a caring friend, a guiding mentor, a loving family man, and a fantastic storyteller and conversationalist. So many will miss him, and we remember him through his imagery. Thanking you, Will.

We met Will not long after we moved to Tallahassee 40 years ago, and have reveled in his loving spirit and artworks, some of which grace our home. He will always be with us through memories and his prolific happy art which captured the joy of life. He will be missed. We need more like him on this earth.

Will was so special for my family. His art covers the walls in our house. When I was younger, I remember going to his house and going to watch him paint in his studio with my brother. To this day, the painting he gave my parents when I was born hangs in our house. It is my favorite painting in the world. Peace and love and may you cherish happy memories.

We certainly have such wonderful memories of Will through the years. When we were building our house, he and his wife lived with us for a short time. We will always remember how he kept our children actively engaged through his paintings and sketches. Will would draw pictures for the children on the drywall. We LOVED it because we always loved his art! So talented, inventive, playful and colorful! It is difficult to know that his body is no longer here to talk with, but certainly his spirit continues through all those who knew him and loved him. Our condolences and love to his beautiful family.
