Christine Xuripha Young Williams, 81 transitioned to her eternal home on Thursday, April 10, 2014.

Christine was born September 20, 1932 to Angus, Sr. and Callie Young. She was a product of the Washington County Public School System and graduated from Roulhac High School in 1950. She continued her education at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University in Tallahassee, Florida and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.

Christine married her high school sweetheart, Edwin George Williams. They were blessed with three children Cheryl Fay, George Edward and Simona Kay.

Christine taught in the Gulf County School System for 37 years, touching the lives of countless children along the way. She was a member of New Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church. She also held memberships and affiliations with the Gulf County Retired Teachers Association; Worthy Matron of Sheba Chapter #13A, Order of Eastern Star; Altamease #155-Order of Calanthe; and Golden Angels Social Club. She served as Port St. Joe City Commissioner Group Two from 2000-2003.

Christine will always be remembered as a woman of dignity, grace, courage, faith, and strength.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Grant Tabernacle African Methodist Episcopal Church, 577 Martin Luther King Drive, Chipley, Florida at 6:00 P.M. CST. The Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, April 18, 2014 at New Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Port St. Joe, Florida at 1:00 P.M. EST. She will lie in state at the Church prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M. EST.

Cooper Funeral Home, Chipley, Florida is in charge of the services.
