Pace Taylor Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 5, 2018.
Pace Ervin Taylor

Tallahassee - Pace Ervin Taylor cannot be dressed up in words and summarized in black and white for the world to meet. His spirit was wet with salt water and brushed in the color of the outdoors. Pace was a lover of family and friends, he never met a stranger. The outpouring of sentiment that we have experienced this week has been overwhelming, endearing and beyond anything else, proof that Pace was loved. That boy has friends who know his days of dragging a monkey around town and others who knew him when he had permanent lace marks covering his baseball playing hands. Each of those friends have stopped by our house this week to share hugs, memories and photos in hopes of capturing just a little of his spirit. Pace was born in Tallahassee and grew up on the North Side, played baseball for the Heat and graduated from Chiles High School in 2017. Pace moved just across the state line to attend Valdosta State University, finding brotherhood in the Sigma Nu Fraternity with Dillon Leonard as his big brother. Pace was living the college dream with concerts and socials on the weekends, experiences shared with friends and family alike.

Each week, Pace would drive to Thomasville or Tallahassee to share a meal with his Father, Todd, Mother, Jen and siblings Mabry (22) and Briley (11). He never missed an opportunity to visit his grandparents in Tallahassee as well as countless cousins who lived close by. Many Chiles classmates held close ties for Pace and he kept in touch through social media and regular visits to concerts of mutual interest. On June 29, Pace travelled to Memphis, Tennessee to see Widespread Panic for a tenth time, a show that never lost its luster. Pace enjoyed the show and shared laughs with friends before he tragically fell from a retaining wall which held back the Mississippi River. Pace was found later by the diligent volunteers who searched the banks in hopes of a rescue.

Pace was survived by his Father Todd Taylor, Mother Jennifer Taylor, two siblings Mabry (22) and Briley (11). Grandparents Larry and Sherry Taylor and Helen Ervin. Multiple aunts, uncles and cousins will miss him and mourn his passing at such a young age, Jeff, Debbie, Taylor and Sarah Kate Christiansen, Rick, Lisa, Davis, Samuel and Levi Watson, Tom, Mary Beth, Camille and Thomas Ervin. Mary Kendrick McGrath, Dane Young, Jackie Lee Wells. Uncle Kevin Kolka, Aunt Stacey Kolka, Kayla, Karson, Kade, Kason Kolka. Ryan and Samantha Taylor. Jewel Ervin Howard. Preceded in death by Thomas Ervin Jr.

A gathering to honor Pace will take place 4:00 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2018 at 5946 Heartland Circle. In lieu of flowers, donations may be accepted through the Coastal Conservation Association in Pace Taylor's name at the link below:. Pace was as avid sportsman and would have wished to have any remembrances made to the benefit of our Florida coastline! https://ccaflorida.org/shop-cca-florida.html#!/Memorial-Donations/p/90596010/category=22368127

My heart is broken for this family. I was just like Pace when I was his age. I attended more than 60 WSP shows the year Pace was born and was in attendance in Memphis the night of his incident. I didn't know him personally but it feels as if I've lost a brother. I pray his family can take some comfort in knowing they'll always be playing his favorite song. My thoughts are with his loved ones during this, their most trying of times. You have all my love.
