Samuel William "Bill" Fuller, Sr.

Samuel William "Bill" Fuller, Sr. began his final journey on February 14, 2011 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on October 27, 1919 in Laurel, Mississippi to Henry and Mary Tucker Fuller. After spending his childhood in Laurel, Bill attended the Marion Military Institute and was a member of ROTC. He then received his bachelor degree at the University of Mississippi and joined the Army where he was assigned to the 39th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division. While serving on World War II campaigns in Africa, Tunisia, Sicily, and Normandy, he received numerous decorations and citations including World War II Victory Medal, EAME Ribbon with 4 stars, American Defense Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, and Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster. He separated from service in January 1947 at the rank of Major. After the military Bill returned to the University of Mississippi where he received his degree in Law. He was a member of the Bar in Mississippi, Arkansas, and Florida.

After retirement from a career in Law, Bill enjoyed numerous interests including cooking, golf, travel, genealogy, visiting New Orleans, and attending Faith Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 24 years, Joyce Busby Fuller, sister-in-law Juanita Fuller, three sons: Bill Fuller, Jr. (Sylvia) of Tallahassee, Robert Fuller (Barbara) of Osceola, Arkansas, and Don Fuller of Osceola, Arkansas, three step-children: Celeda Christie (Lewis), Sandi Brooks, and Hank Townsend (Mary), five grandchildren: Whitney F. Marston (Sean), Brooke Fuller, Will Fuller, III, Lindsey F. Warren (Blake), and Melissa Fuller, and three step-grandchildren: Carla C. Wester, Will Christie (Cheryl), and Amy B. Hayden, and numerous great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Virginia Cromer Fuller (mother of his sons), sister Ann H. Welch, and brother Henry Fuller.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, February 16th at Culley's MeadowWood Timberlane Road Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, February 17th, 2011 at Faith Presbyterian Church with entombment to follow in Culley's MeadowWood Memorial Park.
