Willie Cox

Willie Louise Puckett Cox of Quincy passed away peacefully on October 23, 2017 at home in the presence of family and caregivers.

A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, October 26, 3:00 PM at Thomas Memorial Baptist Church, the family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 to 3;00 PM at the church with burial following at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Willie Louise was born August 17, 1930 in Brinson, GA to the late Sterling Sandford and Lee Emma Norris Puckett. The family moved to Florida when she was a child and she graduated from Quincy High School. She fell in love with her soldier and they were married in 1949. They have enjoyed 68 years of marriage on the old homestead. She assisted her husband with the bookkeeping of his construction company and worked at Quincy State Bank. She was a charter member of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and her church family.

She is survived by her loving husband, Willie Martin Cox with whom she raised three children on the family farm; Martha Cox Scott (Harold), David Cox and Wesley Cox all of Quincy. She was Grandma to three grandchildren; Wendy Scott Bruner (Marcus), Martian Scott Bedford (Rick) and Shackleford "Shack" Cox. She was also Great Grandma to Sarah Bruner, Makayla Bruner, Knute Bruner and Grayson Cox. Two sisters-in-law; Myrtle Cox and Hazel Gainous as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Grady Gainous and one sister; Bonnie Puckett Cox.

Memorial contributions may be made to TMBC at 1001 W. Washington St., Quincy, FL 32351 or Big Bend Hospice (Gadsden Co. Special Projects Fund) at 1723 Mahan Center Blvd, Tallahassee, FL 32308.

Her children would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her dedicated caregivers; Barbara Joyce McNealy, Rose Hopkins, and Pam Evans who walked this journey with them.
