WINDOM, Charmonte Damu Homegoing celebration for Mr. Charmonte Damu Windom, who passed on Jan. 9, 2014, in Berlin, Germany, will be held Saturday, Feb. 1st, 2 pm, at Pilgrims Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 4202 West Nassau Street, the Pastor, Rev. Dr. Linda C. Reese, officiating. Interment will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, with military honors. He was born Oct. 11, 1974, in Tampa, to the parentage of James Windom Jr. and Linda Walker Windom. For the past 3 years, he had resided in Berlin, Germany. Charmonte was a member of Pilgrims Rest Missionary Baptist Church under the tutelage of his uncle, Rev. Robert E. Reese. He was a member of the youth choir and participated in the youth ministry. Charmonte was educated in the public schools of Hillsborough county, graduating from Brandon High School in 1993. While there, he was a member of the famous wrestling team that was number one for a number of years. He also ran for Mr. Muscle, coming in second. He served 3 ½ years in the U.S. Marine Corps before being honorably discharged. Survived by parents, James Jr. and Linda Walker Windom; daughter, Jaimy and her mother, Ute Hogh of Germany; aunts, uncle; and a host of other relatives and friends. Remains will repose after 5 pm, Friday, Jan. 31st, at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Ave., and the family will receive friends from 6-7 pm.
