MITCHELL, Robert Campbell "Bob" 92, of Sunset Beach, passed on peacefully at the Suncoast Hospice Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011. Born in Rochester, NY Bob moved to St. Petersburg as a boy and has been lifelong resident. He graduated as a Coast Guard enlisted pilot from the Naval Flight Training Center in Pensacola, in March, 1944. In 1945, for 9 months, he flew the Coast Guard's only B25-J aircraft while stationed in the Philippines. A treasured memory since the aircraft had been unofficially "borrowed" from the U.S. Army Air Forces. Bob graduated from the University of Florida in June, 1953. He formed Mitchell and Associates Insurance in 1955. He was also a founding member of the Flying Floridians, President of the Northeast Civic Association and active in Republican politics. He retired from the insurance business in 1990. He enjoyed traveling, golf, fishing, and was never too busy to pass up an interesting adventure. His cherished daughter Carlee preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife Danusa; cherished son, Bobby, and adored grandchildren Robert Mitchell III, Stephanie Mitchell, Debi Tuggle and Richard Pickler Kruse, and two beautiful granddaughters Kelsie and Katie Tuggle. A private family event will precede the beginning of his next interesting adventure. Online memorial & guestbook at www.brettfuneralhome.net Brett Funeral Home & Cremation Services 727-321-3321
