BEST, Alan T. "Al"

77, of Largo, FL passed away December 31, 2018 at Suncoast Hospice. He was born April 18, 1941 in Staten Island, New York where he spent his childhood. He moved to Florida with his parents, Jack and Madeline Best and his brother, Ronald Best in 1956 at the age of 15. He joined the Navy at age 17 and spent a total of 32 years serving his country, first active and then many years in the Navy Reserve where he earned the rank of Chief Petty Officer. After active duty, he worked as an engineer. Al was a man of many talents and spent his free time on his hobbies which included Ham Radio (N4NBM), building fishing rods, fishing, building and flying RC model airplanes, leather working, riding motorcycles and going out to eat. He was well loved and has many friends who will miss him, his love of life and sense of humor. He met his wife, Judy in 1983 and they married in 1984, spending 35 years together forming a bond that is unbroken even in death. Words cannot begin to describe the man he was or the joy and happiness he brought to the lives of all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Judy, daughter, Jennifer and many cousins, nieces and nephews all of whom love him dearly and will miss him more than words can express. He will be cremated and buried with his wife, Judy upon her passing in a country cemetery in her home state of Iowa.
