After graduating from high school, she attended and graduated from Frederick Memorial Hospital's School of Nursing in 1948. Betty worked at Frederick Hospital and also as a Chief Nurse at Fort Detrick, Maryland. Betty was very active in her community and Adventist church where she did the treasurer's work for over 20 years. She was also a co-founder of the Ladies Discussion Sabbath School class. Betty made 25-30 volunteer missionary trips to under-developed countries helping to build schools and churches as well as providing health care. On one trip, she gave away the contents of her suitcase returning with only the clothes on her back. Her family wishes to thank all her friends at the New Port Richey Seventh-day Adventist Church for their kindness and friendship over the years.
