JOHANNINGMEIER, Erwin V.
79, of Lutz, FL, died Saturday, April 29, 2017, peacefully in his home. Johanningmeier was born in St. Louis, MO. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Washington University in St. Louis, and his doctorate from the University of Illinois, Urbana. He joined the University of South Florida's College of Education in 1968. During his career, he twice served as chair of the department of psychological and social foundations of education, Director of the USF Teacher Corps and Teacher Corps-Peace Corps programs, and Acting Director of the Division of Sponsored Research. He retired as professor emeritus in 2012. In addition, he wrote and edited more than a dozen works in his field. He is survived by life partner and professional colleague, Theresa Richardson; daughters, Christina Johanningmeier and Elizabeth Johanningmeier Fifer (Nicholas); grandson, Cyrus Fifer; and brothers, Richard (Janet) and Arthur (Marcia). A memorial gathering will be held this summer. Gifts can be made in memorial to create a scholarship for first generation students in the College of Education.
