I didn't have the pleasure of knowing Hugh, but I'm sure I would have loved him. And I will be making a donation and downing a Keystone Light to honor him. He sounds like a great soul. The only riches, the great souls. Rest in peace Hugh.

I stumbled over this notice by accident, but would like to offer my sincere condolences to Hugh's family at this time. It sounds like you will have many fond and fun memories, and I hope they will provide you solace despite your loss. Too young, quite a character, may his memory be a blessing.

I didn't know him, but if he could make me laugh this hard in his death, I can only imagine the joy and laughter he brought everyone in his life. His family is so blessed to have so many infuriating and funny memories.

I don't know Hugh, but feel as if I do now. I am so glad he voted for Democracy. I am not a beer fan...but I promise to have one in his name.

My condolences on the passing of Hughie. I didn't know him, but his obituary is the best I have ever read. Not many obits make you laugh out loud! Hughie must have had a great sense of humor, as do you, his family, and I wish I had known this fellow Irishman. May he rest in peace and I will crack a piss water in his memory.

Hugh, I never met you but you certainly created a dynamic and loving family. I read your obituary in The Daily Kos today 4/26/21. I hope your family gets to read the reader comments. You and your family are now beloved by thousands! You all seemed to have inspired a lot of good old Irish mischief. RIP

I’d like to leave him with a joke: And Englishman, an Irishman & an American went into a bar in Dublin. The bartender asked them what they’d have and they all answered .. “A Guinness of course.” The bartender set out 3 glasses and just as he topped off the last of the three, a few flies buzzing overhead - door was open on a LUVLEY Spring day - collided, and 3 dropped ... 1 apiece .. into the full glasses. The Englishman reared back in horror - “I can’t drink that - pour me another one.” The American reached in, grabbed the fly, and threw it onto the floor for "someone else” to pick up. But the Irishman reached in, picked up the fly by his wings, and as his beating feet cleared the foam he whispered, “Spit it Out. SPIT IT OUT.” A good Irishman hears a good joke from whatever cloud it is on which he’s camped out .. watching over those that he loved ... and still loves.

We feel sad that we never met "Hughie" or his family...you all seem like a FUN bunch! I hope my husband can write one equally deserving for me:)

Hugh left a family filled with mirth & merriment as evidenced by this obituary. Perhaps his legacy is that he was a 'truth-teller' and whole-life man. My condolences from a Western PA city of European immigrant melting pot with similar family persuasions. I am impressed by the level of clarity this family had regarding their patriarch's character and foibles. He was blessed!
