Barbara Tidwell Obituary

TIDWELL, Barbara W., 82, of Sun City Center, Fla., died August 6, 2006, surrounded by her family and their love. Barbara struggled with the progressive effects of Alzheimer's. Until the last few weeks of her life, she was lovingly cared for in her own home by her husband of 57 years, U.D. "Bud" Tidwell, Jr. Barbara was a graphic artist and self taught architect with over 30 homes built to her plans. In her youth, she sang gospel music on a weekly radio show and later sang with various gospel groups. Her family believes she is now singing with the heavenly choir and bringing a little gospel beat to it. Barbara was a beautiful lady and will be remembered for her spirit, sweet nature and easy laughter. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Guy Dorey of Atlanta, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, David and Janet Tidwell and grandson, Michael Tidwell all of Metro Atlanta. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2006, at Sun City Center Funeral Home, 11851 Rickenbacker Drive, Sun City Center, Fla. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla. Barbara's brother-in-law, the Rev. Paul Clawson and the Rev. Gregory Brant, pastor of her home church, Wimauma Church of God will preside.
