Martin KEANE Obituary

KEANE, Martin

whose inquisitive mind and independent spirit led him into homeopathy, developing a national reputation with patients around the world, died Feb. 27, 2018. He was 65. After completing his training in acupuncture he continued to expand, presenting his work before national associations of homeopaths, Oriental medicine physicians, nurse practitioners, and colleges. He later became focused on Medical Qigong, earning a doctorate from the International College of Medical Qigong in 2015.

Martin Patterson Keane was born July 22, 1952 in Cheverly, MD. A painter who favored abstract designs, he graduated from Antioch College, then earned a Master's degree in art history. He met Laura Meacham Aug. 17, 1987, the Harmonic Convergence, a moment of worldwide meditation. They married June 17, 1989, then established Classical Medicine of St. Petersburg together in 1994. He could be found with a book in his lap as cats stepped around him, or in the back yard amid bromeliad, cactuses, and sculpture. He also cultivated an ironic sense of humor, full of sly witticisms he enjoyed even if no one else understood them.

He relished the beach, pulling a cart with umbrella and chairs over the sand to a remote spot on Fort De Soto, even with late stage lung cancer. He is survived by his wife, Laura Meacham Keane; sisters, Kathleen Keane, Paula Lautzenheiser, and Claire Keane; a brother, Kevin Keane; sister-in-law, Cynthia Potesta Keane; nieces, Meghan Keane and Liz Aune Sousa; and nephews, Paul Aune, J.K. Keane, and Julian Keane.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to WMNF FM 88.5, 1210 E. Martin Luther King Blvd., Tampa, FL 33603-4417, (813) 238-8001 or the Temple of Peace and Virtue (International College of Medical Qigong), P.O. Box 1435, Palm Desert, CA 92261, (800) 848-0649, medicalqigong.org. Sending my condolences to Martin´s family. I met Martin when I started working at Dr. Su Liang Ku´s Office in 1989. He was always available to help. When I was pregnant, I was at the hospital and they basically sent me home and said you just have to go home and wait and have a miscarriage. I immediately called Martin. I went to his office and picked up two Chinese remedies/medication. he said take this one for two weeks and then stop and then take this one for a week. He saved my child´s life. She is now 30. Before my mother died she was in the hospital and I called Martin and he said come to the office and talk to me. I told him what was going on and he prescribed homeopathic remedies for me to take back to give to my mom.
I no longer live in St. Petersburg Florida and haven´t for almost 20 years. I have a friend from St. Petersburg is having a lot of problems. I decided to look up and see if Martin was still practicing. It was a sad moment to hear of his passing. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and the community. Blessings be upon you all while you find your way through this time. I sent this message out to the universe, thank you Martin for saving my child´s life when no one else knew how.

Hi there! I'm really sorry to hear about Dr Keane's passing. I saw him in 2014 for my cough. He was a wonderful person. I am just seeing this now so I know it's been a while. If you have any information on the dopamine supplements he offered me in 2014, please get in touch. [email protected]

Many Blessings!

Dear Laura, My deepest condolences to you. I wanted to refer a patient to Marty and thought I should check to see if he was back in practice. I never expected to see that he had passed. I so enjoyed attending seminars with him, and his wonderful intellect and humor. I referred several people to him over the years as I knew they would be in excellent hands. I am very sorry for your loss, that of his family and those who relied on his considerable healing skills. Peace to you.

Not many of us have the gift to positively improve the lives of every person we come in contact with .Marty had that power and passionately shared it with all. I was fortunate to share a love of cactus and succulents with Marty,he will always be shinning through his many beloved friends and plants. Marty left us way to soon ,yet did so so much to make the world better.
Much peace and love to Laura and all the family.

My heart goes out to you, Laura and the family. Marty was more than a healer, he was a friend to so many and to me and my family. I loved his love of food and especially New Orleans cuisine. He has left an imprint and will always be remembered.

Dear Laura & Classical Medicine Family ~ My deepest condolences. Marty was an amazing human, taken far too soon from this earthly realm. No doubt there was a space reserved for him in Heaven and the hole left in our lives here will forever remain. Much Peace & Love to everyone who feels the same ~ Miss Julie, WMNF

He was truly a person who impacted the world greatly due to his presence. He touched so many lives at First Unity Spiritual Campus and WINGS Bookstore. He transformed so many people to a new way of thinking and being. I am so thankful to have been touched by him, he was there so many times during the times of need. There are no words just simply a determination that he will continue to live either through modeling his greatness or through memory.

My deepest sympathies to you Laura.
Marty was my amazing teacher at EWCNM back in 2008 and then literally saved my life years later with his homeopathic wisdom. To say I will miss his quirky bright light of life is an understatement. All my love to you and your family.
