George Mendoza, Age 95, passed away in Morton Hospital on April 25, 2021 following a lengthy period of declining health. George was preceded in death by his beloved wife Alice (Young) Mendoza. He was born in Assonet, the son of the late Joao & Maria (Costa) Mendoza. George had resided in Taunton and Dighton since 1949 and was formerly of Assonet. He served his country honorably during WWII while in the U.S. Army. George was previously employed as a construction worker for J.L. Marshall Construction Company. He enjoyed traveling, ski mobiling, going to his home in Vermont, boating, fishing and above all cherished his time with family. George is survived by his loving daughter Sharon Baptista and her husband Robert of Taunton, his grandchildren; Stephen Baptista and wife Chris of Norton and David Baptista and wife Cassidy of Taunton and 6 great grandchildren, he was also the last of 4 siblings. Funeral home visiting hours will be held at the OKeefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Sunday from 2-4pm. A funeral home service will be held on Monday at 10am. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Taunton.
