David Thomas Obituary
Army Spc. David W. Thomas, 40, of St. Petersburg, and Staff Sgt. Eric B. Shaw, 31, of Exeter, Maine died Sunday from injuries they received when enemy forces attacked their unit with small arms fire in Konar, the military said.
The soldiers were assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combate Team, 101st Airbourne Division (Air Assault) and were based out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of David W. Thomas US Army Sergeant. No words can discribe a person so unselfish he/she will leave their family to put themselves in front of danger to protect a way of life and people who he/she does not know. They are our American heros. The pain and sorrow will never go away, only placed just far enough in back of our minds to allow us to go about our daily lives.
