STEPHEN NOVAK Obituary
STEPHEN J. NOVAK, age 76, of Jensen Beach, Florida, died March 4, 2014 after a heroic struggle against a series of illnesses. Beloved husband of Patricia Austin Novak, Steve was a generous and devoted father to children Steve (Debbie) Novak, Karen (Joe) Vaillancourt, Chris (Melinda) Novak, and Kerry (Eric) Smith. He adored his ten grandchildren and celebrated the accomplishments of Sean, Jeffery, Jake, Kate, Timmy, Sammy, Zachery, Hannah, Amanda and Bethany. Steve was a proud member of the 1959 Championship Football Team of Syracuse University and officiated at hundreds of high school football games over twenty-five years. He was Personnel Director for the town of West Hartford, Connecticut, for most of his career and served as Director of Human Resources for Martin County for five years before his retirement. Steve volunteered at Martin Memorial for fifteen years and also at the new Elliott Museum. Steve's family will always honor him as the person who loved to laugh and loved to have others laugh with him. He is survived by his sister Jean and was preceded in death by his loving first wife Mary Funk Novak. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stephen's honor to Martin Memorial Foundation or a charity of your choice. A gathering of friends will be on Tuesday March 11, 2014 from 7:00 to 8:00PM at Aycock Funeral Home in Jensen Beach, FL. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Jensen Beach on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 11:00AM. Steve,
You had such a great sense of humor and you always ribbed me about Pittsburgh weather. I would say 'it was rainy and cold' then you would say 'we have it tough too, it is 85 an sunny. It is so hard to deal with'.
