John Roy (Jack) Norvell Jr. Obituary
John Roy (Jack) Norvell, Jr.

Ft. Pierce, FL

John Roy Norvell, Jr., fondly known as Jack, passed away at home on November 2, 2018. A native

Floridian, cattle rancher, and police official, Jack leaves behind an adventurous legacy which he loved to share in his works of poetry and humorous stories. Jack's early years began in Jensen Beach, where he was born to J.R. and Estelle

Norvell on June 9, 1926. After attending and graduating from the historic Ft. Pierce Delaware School, Jack enlisted and served in the Air Corps as a radio and Morse code operative during WWII. After military service, Jack was hired by the Ft. Pierce Police Department, where he would eventually graduate from FBI training and retire as Assistant Chief with thirty-four years of service.

Raised in the family cattle business, Jack assisted his father, J.R. Norvell, Sr., with the production and

management of beef cattle, which would eventually be passed on to his own son, Robbie. Prior to establishing his career path with the Ft. Pierce Police Department, Jack assisted in building Dawal Farms in Homestead, Florida.

After retirement, Jack and his wife, Wanda, built a creek side summer home in the foothills of the Smokey Mountains in Bryson City, NC, where Jack could enjoy the plentiful golf courses, entertain his family and friends, and watch Wanda catch more rainbow trout with her fly rod than he ever could.

A Christian and devout family man, Jack leaves behind a loving family to which he gave the best possible example of how to live a respectful life and one that will be well remembered.

Jack's surviving family includes his loving wife of 69 years, Wanda; three sons: Richard, Robbie (Cathy), and Rusty

(Janice), and Lynne Williams Norvell; six grandchildren: Robert (Jenna), Sunni (Frankie), Russell (Danielle), Rich

(Jessalyn), Kaylyn (Gustavo), and Leighton; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The Norvell family would also like to acknowledge the assistance provided by Sarah Bearor and the loving care from his care giver, Roselyn Stone.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, John Roy

Norvell, Sr. and Estelle Padrick Norvell; Sisters: Virginia Dare Norvell, Pat Fortana, Joy Osteen, and Ann Norvell; Brothers: Lanie Norvell, and Grayson (Smoochie) Norvell.

Services will be held at Haisley Funeral Home in Fort Pierce on Saturday, November 10. Visitation will be at 1 pm; Services will be at 3 pm.
