MAURICE "MOREY" EDWIN JAMES O'LOUGHLIN Maurice "Morey" Edwin James O'Loughlin, 87, died December 29, 2009 at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach, FL. He was born in Petrolia, Ontario, Canada on May 18, 1922 to Coleman Eustacius and Irene Martin Fletcher O'Loughlin. Shortly after birth, the family moved to Sarnia, Ontario, where he attended Our Lady of Mercy Elementary School and the Sarnia Collegiate Institute. Upon graduation he enrolled in the University Of Toronto School Of Practical Science to study Chemical Engineering. Mr. O'Loughlin interrupted his studies to join the Canadian Army and served as First Lieutenant, Artillery Division, during World War II. When the war ended, he resumed his studies at the University of Toronto and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. Mr. O'Loughlin then joined Imperial Oil of Canada at its Sarnia Refinery. During the Korean War he was assigned to the position of Canadian Petroleum Industry Liaison for the Canadian Defense Production Department in Washington, D.C. Subsequently he held various technical and management positions with Imperial Oil, with Canada's refineries in Winnipeg, Manitoba; Edmonton, Alberta; Sarnia, Ontario and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Mr. O'Loughlin moved to New York to join Standard Oil of New Jersey (now Exxon) as Deputy Manager of their corporate planning department, followed by a move to Houston, Texas where he joined Esso Eastern, Inc. (Exxon's operations headquarters for their far eastern holdings). He served as Senior Vice President and subsequently President of that company. With Esso Eastern, he was an active member of the Advisory Council on US/ Japan Relations, the council of the Americas and the American Society. He was elected Senior Vice President and Director of Exxon Corporation in New York and retired from that position in 1987. Mr. O'Loughlin was an expert yachtsman, winning sailing trophies in Sarnia, Ontario; Halifax, Nova Scotia and Toronto, Ontario. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the John's Island Club and Holy Cross Catholic Church. Mr. O'Loughlin is survived by his wife of 58 years, Grace Louise Parker; daughter, Patricia Anne (Jesse Richard) Erickson of Atlanta, GA; son, James Parker O'Loughlin of Houston, TX and a granddaughter, Devon Louise Erickson of Atlanta. At the request of the family, there will be no services. He will be interred at our Lady of Mercy Cemetery, Sarnia, Ontario. Paid Obituary
