EDWARD JOSEPH DEMAREST Edward Joseph Demarest of Palm City, FL. passed away peacefully on May 18, 2014 at the age of 76. Born in Paterson, N.J., Ed was a resident of Palm City for 25 years, Prior to retirement in 1989, Ed was a consummate entrepreneur. After graduating from Seton Hall with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, he established Rentals Unlimited, an equipment rental business in 1965. During his years of living in Northern, New Jersey. Ed was always a forward thinker and had a passion for his community. He served on several planning boards, review and industrial committees was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and the county Republican Committee. Throughout his many years of service with the Rotary Club including Rotarian President, Ed was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow. Ed, with his wife Lois, loved to travel. With well over 160 cruises on the high seas, including Alaska, Europe. Panama Canal, South America and so many islands in between, Ed certainly earned his Crown and Anchor Society stripes. Ed had a great sense of humor and many of us will remember his witty speeches, his epic parties, his rendition of "Coney Island Baby" and MOST OF ALL, his holiday solo of "Five Gold Rings". He was a loving, caring and giving husband, father, grandfather, mentor and friend who will be missed tremendously but will live forever in our hearts. Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 52 wonderful years, Lois, his two loving children, David Demarest of Boca Raton, FL, and Susan Bartlett and her husband Cary, of Lake Worth, FL. his three cherished grand- children, Taylor Demarest, Tyler Bartlett and Carson Bartlett. He was preceded in death by his brother James Demarest of West Paterson, N.J. Memorial contributions in Ed's honor may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice 1201 SE Indian Street Stuart, FL. 34997 or www.tchospice.org/give online. A Celebration of Ed's life will be held on Monday, June 2, 2014 at 11 AM at The Evergreen Club, Palm City, with a reception to follow until 1 PM.
