Maryann Orrico Obituary
Worcester, Mass - Maryann Orrico, 64, of Worcester, passed away in her home, far too quickly, but in the loving embrace of her family, on Saturday, June 24, 2017.
Maryann in survived by her loving sons, Jayme Burdett and his wife Clare of Charlton, and Jeffrey Burdett of Worcester; her two best friends and granddaughters, Abbey and Megan Burdett; three brothers, Paul Orrico and his wife Trudie of St. Augustine, FL, Mark Orrico and his wife Susan of Holden, and Brian Orrico and his wife Donna of Webster; two sisters, Joann Orrico and her fiancé James Alexander, and Maria McDonald and her husband Timothy of Auburn; her dear friend and companion, Joseph Cautela of Marlborough; many nieces and nephews. Maryann was born in Worcester, daughter of the late, George and Winifred (McTiernan) Orrico, and has lived here all her life. She graduated from Saint Stephen's High School and later from Quinsigamond Community College, where she studied in the Dental Hygiene Program.
Maryann retired from Unum, formerly Paul Revere Insurance, in 2015, where she had worked for thirty-two years. She enjoyed traveling, the beach, and her walking group. Maryann also found a great feeling of accomplishment by helping others. In her retirement, she made a point to go back to work as a van driver for disabled children, she volunteered untold hours offering guidance and assistance to teenage mothers, and she spent time helping at the Shelter for Homeless Veterans.
Family is what really made Maryann thrive; when her granddaughters were born, she dedicated herself to being the greatest "Nana" of all time. She became attached at the hip to the two girls and together they shopped, enjoyed the sun at the beach, and traveled. Her family will remember her as being one to share unconditional love, a hug or a smile, or maybe that kick in the shin to get you going. She loved, was loved, and will be remembered as a great woman.
Calling Hours for Maryann will be held on Thursday, June 29, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday, at 12 Noon in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to Pancreatic Cancer Research in care of The American Cancer Society, at www.cancer.org.

As a friend of Maryann's for over 60 years, I cherished our times together sharing secrets, our beach trips, holding her babies, and dinner out reminiscing. Remembering you, Maryann from Paul Revere/Unum. Whenever I saw you, I would joke that you needed to come to a Paul Revere Toastmasters meeting and speak in front of a group. Maryann and I were friends since 1991. She took my fitness classes at Unum from 1991 until I was laid off in 2009. I just saw her at Stop & Shop in May. She was a positive, upbeat lady who always had a smile beaming. Gone too soon❤

I'm just speechless and in disbelief over sweet Maryann's passing. I feel such a great loss and will always remember her infectious laugh and kind heart.
